Effect of different agents on PTHrP (107-139)-stimulated secretion of IL-6 by osteoblastic cells from human trabecular bonea

ConditionIL-6 (% of basal)
aSerum-depleted cells were incubated with 10 nM PTHrP (107-139), with or without the different agents, for 24 h. IL-6 in the cell-conditioned medium was measured by EASIA™. PMA was added at 100 nM. Results are mean ± SD of values from three different patients, performed in duplicate. PTHrP, parathyroid hormone-related protein; IL-6, interleukin-6; BIM, bisindolylmaleimide I; Rp-cAMPS, adenosine 3′, 5′-cyclic monophosphorothioate, Rp-isomer; PMA, phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate; EASIA, enzyme-amplified sensitivity immunoassay.
bP < 0.01, compared with nonstimulated (basal) value (100%, or 16.7 ± 1.7 ng/mg protien).
cP < 0.01, compared with the PTHrP (107-139) value.
